Come By for Our Fall Festival & Picnic
October 29, 2017 – 4 pm to 7 pm
A Halloween (Trick or Treat) Alternative
The members of Salem United Methodist Church are happy to be hosting what we’ve termed our annual “Fall Festival & Picnic” – a safe, family-friendly event where we open our church up to the community with an indoor/outdoor picnic.
We’ll have hot dogs with all the fixings, popcorn, a costume contest, games, candy, etc.
This is wonderful event that’s held in a safe and secure environment on church property and will be adult-supervised.
Why a Fall Festival for Kids Instead of a Halloween Party?
We aren’t avoiding the issue of Halloween or “trick or treating” because this is one of the largest family-oriented events in our community.
Traditionally Halloween is where children are encouraged to go trick-or-treating – basically traveling door-to-door their neighborhood seeking out candy and other sweet treats.
However, in some apartment complexes or gated communities which have a lot of single adults or older couples, this age-old practice is discouraged or frowned upon.
This is why we, here at Salem UMC want take advantage of this opportunity to reach out to the many families with children that live near our church.
We have an open invitation to everyone to come by and join in this Christian-based alternative for their family, if they so desire.
This event will be in a safe and supervised environment and we will have adult members of our church on the premises at all times, so we invite you to come by with your family and help us welcome in the fall season! For directions to the church go here.
