Community Blood Drive [Nov 11, 2024]

Dear Salem Family Members and Our WNC Neighbors,

As we all know Hurricane Hell-ene has left a significant impact on our WNC communities, creating urgent medical needs and placing extraordinary stress on our emergency responders, EMTs, and hospitals.

Even after a month the need for blood is still critical with injured patients who are still relying on blood transfusions for their long term recovery.

Right now, our local blood supply is running low, and we’re calling on the local community to step up and help.

Whether you’ve donated before or are considering it for the first time, giving blood makes a real difference.

To make it easier, an upcoming blood drive at Salem United Methodist Church offers a convenient opportunity to support your community by helping replenish these vital reserves.

3 Benefits of Donating Blood after a Natural Disaster:

Stabilizing Blood Supplies: Natural disasters like Helen often disrupt regular donation schedules, which can lead to severe shortages. Your donation helps ensure that our hospitals have the blood needed to treat patients safely.

Immediate Support for Emergency Medical Care: Natural disasters increase the need for emergency transfusions. By donating blood, you’re directly helping EMTs and hospital staff provide lifesaving care when every second counts.

Strengthening Community Resilience: Regular donations create a robust local blood reserve, enabling the community to recover faster and to respond more effectively to future crises. Your contribution today is a gift of resilience for tomorrow.

We invite you to come by and join us for the blood drive at Salem United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 9 Salem Church Road, Weaverville, NC 28787, on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Your help is urgently needed. By giving blood, you’re doing your part to support your neighbors, build community strength, and make a lasting impact in WNC’s recovery.
